What's Happening Wednesdays: Today we had a special visitor in some of our classrooms, Mrs. Greeley from the Maine Math Science Alliance. She came in and showed us some fun and interactive math games about fact fluency. Students had an opportunity to expand their math thinking and bring out their mathematician skills.
All after school activities in RSU 64 are cancelled today, Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Please stay safe!
Motivational Mondays: What is your dream? Don't let a moment of frustration, setback, disappointment, confusion, doubt, difficulty, or hurt stop you from getting back up, brushing it off, and fighting for your dream to come true. You never know what part of your dream is just around the corner.
Funny Fridays: What did the salad say to get inside?
"Lettuce in, it is freezing out here."
CCES Power Update: The power has been restored. Have a great night, everyone.
CCES Power Update: We've been told by Versant that power should be restored within 1-2 hours of the time of the outage as they work to repair a damaged pole. The school is operating on the generator and we will not be dismissing early.
We have lost power at CCES. Versant is unsure of the cause but is evaluating. There are 1700 customers impacted. The school is currently running on the generator. No plans to dismiss early at this point but we will continue to assess next steps as we move through the afternoon.
What's Happening Wednesday: We truly hope you are enjoying your day. Just because we aren't together at school today doesn't mean we are not thinking of each of you. We hope you are making the most of your snow day and that we will see each other tomorrow. If you're bored, try some of these fun snow day activities. We can't wait to hear about what you tried.
Although snow totals were less than predicted overnight, we are concerned about the timing of the change over to rain this morning and what it will do to the dirt roads in the district, making them very slippery for the morning commute. Also, thankfully, we did not yet get the power outages as were predicted however, the National Weather Service is indicating wind gusts will continue throughout the morning and the potential for power outages still exist. Therefore, there is no school in RSU 64 today, Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Please stay safe.
We have two new CUBS recipents!!
Mrs. Bubar awarded Mrs. Nickerson the CUBS award because, "she wears many hats! She cares deeply for the children as well as her colleagues. She is easy to talk to and helps wherever she can. She has a wealth of knowledge about families in our community. This person meets with as many readers as she can. She also took our MML students under her wing. This person handles weekly scheduling as well as daily updates of scheduling on little sticky notes with a smile!" Mrs. Noel awarded Mrs. Mitchell the CUBS award because, "Shen has worked with many students over the years she has been in the district. They are often the most challenging students that need the most support. She does whatever is asked of her with a smile. She is kind, respectful and caring with them but also sets clear expectations and boundaries. I have had the pleasure of watching and working with her in my classroom. She is also brave enough to be out there during parent dismissal time and runs it smoothly!"
We are excited to see you all Thursday night for our first PTO meeting of 2024. We are looking forward to sketching out the rest of this year's events and reflect on how things went since the beginning of the school year. Stop in to see us Thursday night at 7:00.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for tomorrow's substitute information meeting. We can't wait to see you.
What's Happening Wednesday: Welcome to Mrs. Pelkey's first grade classroom. Today, during math centers, students had the opportunity to practice several different skills. Some centers allowed them to practice their understanding and knowledge of shapes and their attributes from their most recent math unit. Other stations allowed students to practice their subtraction skills and facts,
which is part of their current unit. They have also been learning all about polar bears in their social studies work, and we're very excited to complete a polar bear subtraction worksheet. We love seeing our students engaged in their work, as well as working with friends on taking turns and helping one another out. Great work Grade 1, keep it up!
