Yesterday, we had the absolute pleasure to learn from Matt and Stephanie Mulligan. Matt, a former NFL player, and Stephanie, children's book author and publisher, taught us the importance of encouragement and being part of a team. They shared their story, Just a Kid from Maine, that they coauthored. It taught our kids that determination, trying new things, and learning to grow in every opportunity can lead you to doing great things. Thank you for coming and inspiring our CCES Bear Cubs!

CCES received a HUGE donation last week from CHS very own, Brooklyn Hichborn! Each year, on her birthday, Brooklyn donates items to a non-profit organization in lieu of receiving gifts. This year, she chose CCES as her non-profit! Our lobby bench was filled with tissues, paper towels, shoes, snacks, water, etc. We're honored that Brooklyn thought of us!
It's time to kick off our CCES Read Across America Theme Week tomorrow. Don't forget to wear you comfy, cozy pajamas tomorrow. We are excited to see you in the morning!

We have two new CUB award recipients! Miss Rivard gave Ms. Harvey the CUBS award because, " She has worked in our district for 11 years. She has worked in multiple schools in our district and then came to work at CCES when it opened. She is a hard worker and cares about her job. Her dedication is apparent as you walk down our hallway and into our classrooms. She has been found sitting on the floor in the summer making sure every locker is ready for our new students. She wants the best for herself individually but also for others around her. The students love to see her daily and always will say hello and wave to her and she will smile, say hello, and wave to them. Mrs. Fowler gave Mrs. Mandigo the award and said, "I am so pleased to pass the CUB Award onto a true angel. A special person who works tirelessly and lovingly to meet a multitude of needs for many. Never knowing what the day may bring from smiles to tears (and many things between) while always being kind, comforting, and caring. Natasha Mandigo is a true caretaker of our schools and I recognize her for being a N-nurturing, U-understanding, R-reliable, S-selfless, and E-extraordinary nurse!"
Dr. Seuss's birthday is celebrated annually on March 2nd and is usually what kicks off the nationwide Read Across America Week. CCES is so excited to be participating and our student council members have planned out some fun and exciting theme days. See the flyer below to get your ideas ready for a spectacular Seuss theme week!
We hope you are enjoying the start to your winter vacation week!
It's not too late to make it out to CCES's game night! Stop in and play some bingo, life-size CandyLand, cornhole, and more... enjoy some concessions, win some awesome prices, and have a great time… Stop in any time between 6-8pm tonight, and we will see you soon!
You might notice an extra trinket in your student(s) bag today! That's because students earned their school-wide reward of The Bear Cub Cart at our last assembly. Each student had the opportunity to pick one item off the cart! Ask your child tonight about PAWS tickets and how they have earned one this year!
We have two new CUBS winners! Mrs. Jordan awarded Miss Rivard with the CUBS award and said, "This individual teacher has been a dedicated teacher in the district for 17 Years. Her students and the teaching profession are her passions in life. She works hard to create a safe loving environment that promotes independence and individual development from each of her students in the classroom. She loves her students and finds joy in their accomplishments. Her classroom is inviting and well organized. Her young students have a well thought out structured environment that provides them with a safe place to learn, make mistakes and retry. Although she is quiet in large group situations, if and when you have the opportunity to discuss teaching and our students she shares insightful thoughts and reflections that deepen the conversation. As I promote my littles onto Kindergarten I am very confident knowing that she will support and guide them through the beginnings of their academic career with kindness and openness to support them when necessary." Mrs. Bagley awarded Mrs. Fowler with the CUBS award and said, "I am delighted to present this award to an individual who fulfills multiple roles within our district, some in her job description, and some possibly not. She is a dependable figure you can trust and confide in. She is kind to all students and is always looking for a solution to help them be successful. Not only is she a supporter of the students, but she is also a reliable companion to the staff. I still recall my initial teacher workshop lunch as a first-year teacher, where she joined my team and offered me words of encouragement as if she had all the confidence in the world in me. Every encounter with her, even a simple passing by in the hallways, is greeted with a warm smile, which brightens our school environment. Traci Fowler's presence enriches our staff and students and truly makes our school a better place."
Happy National School Counselors Week to our very own school counselor, Mrs. Chabot! Thank you for everything you do to provide safety and comfort to our students here at CCES!
Attached you'll find our February Family Newsletter!! Have a wonderful day!

Mrs. Nickerson awarded Mrs. Jordan the CUBS award. She said, Coming into CCES she helped to create a completely new program. She helped to develop the schedule and the curriculum. Now this social teacher is teaching on an island. Her schedule is different from all others except her teaching partner - she has adjusted although it has been hard. Three and four year olds are adorable but they can’t do much on their own, some are used to being the boss, some have never been with other children, some can not talk and some have a vocabulary that has to be fixed at home as well as at school - in fact one father actually thanked her for help “them” clean up their language at home! If you ever want to see the cutest kids and really see what it is like herding cats - go visit PreK. She is always willing to reflect on herself to help her students grow and learn." Mrs. Mitchell awarded Mrs. Bagley with the CUBS award. She shared, "The person I am nominating for the CUBS award has been with us a few years and the time I spent in their classroom I was impressed. I have worked with a lot of different people over the years I have been in this district. Some have crossed my paths for different reasons. Each person has touched my heart in their own way. I watched this person interact with the children with kindness. I saw patience demonstrated in the most frustrating times. She adds an element of fun to the learning which brings many smiles to kids' faces. I have enjoyed the time I spent working with her!"
Come join us for a fun, family game night held by our PTO! We're always looking for volunteers! Please reach out to a PTO member if you would like to help!
