Reopening of Schools 2020-2021

The District is busy planning for the reopening of schools within the Hybrid/Blended Learning Model.  This model includes all PreK through Grade 5 students on site for in person learning all school days.  It also includes middle and high school students on site two days per week and engaging in remote learning the other three.  This model will help mitigate the childcare issues that emerge when our youngest students can’t be in school and it will also reduce the number of students on buses, a significant consideration for RSU 64.  At the middle and high school, one cohort of students will attend on site on Monday and Thursdays.  The other cohort will attend on site on Tuesdays and Fridays.  All middle and high school students will be remote on Wednesdays.  Now that we believe we have accurate transportation information, we have been able to identify which students will attend on which days.  Middle and high school students who live in Corinth and Bradford will attend on site on Mondays and Thursdays. Middle and high school students who live in Hudson and Kenduskeag will attend on site on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Stetson students will be split, and half added to each cohort. Again, this is due to transportation needs.  The middle and high school staff are working on student schedules.  Once individual student schedules are prepared for Stetson students and UTC students, they will be shared with those students.

Also, a full remote learning program is available to all students PreK-12.  If you are considering this option and have not discussed it with your child’s principal, please do so as soon as possible. If you are considering homeschooling, which is different than remote learning as the parent becomes fully responsible for the student’s program, you must file your intent to do so with the Department of Education.

We appreciate your patience as we work through these details. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school.
