August 25, 2020

Dear Families and Caregivers,

Last night, the RSU 64 Board of Directors voted for a calendar change that will delay the opening of the school year until Monday, August 31. Please take note of the following:

  1. The first day of school for in person learning will be Monday, August 31, 2020.

  2. PreK – 5 students with the last name beginning with letters A through M will attend on Monday, August 31.

  3. PreK – 5 students with the last name beginning with letters N through Z will attend on Tuesday, September 1.

  4. All PreK – 5 students will attend on Wednesday, September 2 and each day forward.

  5. Middle and high school students living in Corinth and Bradford and half of our Stetson students will begin in person learning on Monday, August 31 and be on site again on Thursday, September 3.

  6. Middle and high school students living in Kenduskeag and Hudson and the other half of our Stetson students will begin in person learning on Tuesday, September 1 and be on site again on Friday, September 4.

  7. Remote learning for students will begin on Wednesday, September 2.

  8. UTC student schedules have not changed.

If there are elementary families who have last names in both portions of the alphabet, they may choose which day to begin.  Please notify CCES of your choice so we can adequately prepare.

These changes are being put into place so staff will have additional time to prepare and practice new routines and protocols that are necessary for the health and safety of our students and staff. We understand these changes are a disruption to family plans and apologize for the inconvenience these changes may cause. Please look for additional information to come out this week regarding drop off and dismissal procedures and food services that will be available for remote learning days.

If you have any questions about these changes, please contact your child’s school.

Thank you,

Superintendent Sperrey
